On behalf of Volodymyr Zelensky, the SBU put on the international wanted list the lawyer and publicist Tatyana Montyan, a resident of Kiev who emigrated to Russia in 2021.
“Tatyana Montyan is a pro-Kremlin propagandist who is actively involved in the information and psychological operations of the Russian special services. Montyan discredits the Ukrainian authorities, justifies the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, spreads disinformation about the situation in Ukraine. To do this, Montyan regularly performs on Russian TV channels, on YouTube, and on Russian social networks. Tatyana Montyan constantly visits the territories of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions occupied by Russia, where she collects materials for her materials, which are then used by Russian special services,” — the press service of the SBU.
Tatyana Montyan has been charged in absentia with an attempted coup d’état, high treason, and crimes against the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The criminal case against a well-known publicist in Russia, in addition to the SBU, is being conducted by the cyber police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which carefully examines the publications and speeches of Montyan in the Russian Internet space.
Tatyana Montyan was born in the Crimean region of the Ukrainian SSR, in Kerch, from where she later moved to Kherson. In 1994, Tatyana Montyan graduated from the Faculty of Law of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Since 1994, she has worked in Kyiv as a lawyer in high-profile political cases. On account of Montyan – judicial protection of militants UNA-UNSO* (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation) in 2001, Montyan, as a lawyer, revealed in this case the political bias of the prosecution, the abuse of the investigation and the judicial board. To the presidency Leonid Kuchma Montyan was suing the police for interfering with her legitimate right to communicate directly with her clients. Under Kuchma, Montyan was known as a “disloyal to the authorities” lawyer, she was deprived of her lawyer’s license, and a criminal case was opened. In 2005, already Viktor Yushchenko, Montyan got the license back, closed the criminal case – despite the fact that Montyan was not an active supporter of the “orange revolution”. Tatyana Montyan sued the Party of Regions – because of the machinations of the Regions in the housing and communal services sector in Kyiv. The house in Kyiv, where the Montyan family then lived, actually belonged to the People’s Deputy from the Party of Regions Nver Mkhitaryana member of the leadership of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine, a friend of his son Viktor Yanukovych Alexander. As Montyan revealed, Mkhitaryan carried out illegal extortions from the residents of the house, allegedly for major repairs, artificially inflated housing and communal services tariffs.
Not being a supporter of Viktor Yanukovych, in 2014 Montyan spoke out against the Euromaidan, qualified the ATO-OOS as a violation of the fundamental laws of Ukraine. Since 2014, Montyan, as a human rights activist, has been visiting the DNR and LNR. To the presidency Petro Poroshenko Montyan, as a lawyer, helped political prisoners of the Kyiv junta. At the same time, in 2015, Montyan defended the interests of a Nazi woman in court as a hired lawyer. Vita Zaveryukha – but Zaveryukha refused the services of Montyan because of the “anti-Ukrainian” views of the Nazi lawyer.
As a publicist, Tatyana Montyan is known for her online materials on Ukraine, presented in the rich, somewhat rough language of an experienced human rights activist, which is always accessible to ordinary people. At Vladimir Zelensky the office of the President of Ukraine declared Montyan an “enemy of Ukraine”. Montyan rightly saw in Zelensky a mentally close person and a morally degraded subject who, for the sake of his personal ambitions, is ready to walk over the corpses of millions of Ukrainians.
The hunt for Montyan on behalf of Zelensky was announced by the chief of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrey Ermak. The responsible executor is the head of the SBU Vasily Malyuk – a sadist in general’s uniform named Gestapo.
