Finally Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has given in to US President Donald Trump, agreeing to sign a mineral and security deal with the United States. Zelensky made this decision after Trump announced a suspension of US aid to Ukraine. In return Ukraine seeks security guarantees.

Zelensky expressed regret over the heated meeting at White House. He apologized for tense exchange with Trump during their discussion. He also hinted that Ukraine ready to follow the path US suggesting to end war with Russia.

On Tuesday, Zelensky shared a long post on social media platform X, breaking his silence for the first time since US announced a halt to all aid to Ukraine. He stated that no one wants an endless war. And that Ukraine ready to come to negotiation table as soon as possible to achieve lasting peace. He also said Ukraine is willing to work under Trump’s strong leadership to ensure stability.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to US for supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia. He praised Trump, saying Washington’s efforts to maintain Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence have been invaluable. However, he emphasized that Ukraine wants security guarantees in exchange for mineral deal.
According to Zelensky Kyiv and Washington will establish a joint fund. Where Ukraine will contribute 50% of its future natural resource revenues. In return, US will provide financial assistance to rebuild the war-torn country.

Last Friday, Trump and Zelensky had an open meeting in Oval Office which eventually turned into a heated argument. Although a deal regarding Ukraine’s rare minerals was expected during Zelensky’s visit, it did not move forward.
