Zakharova called on the parties to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to restraint

Moscow is seriously concerned about the escalation of the armed conflict between Israel and Palestine and calls on the parties to return to the ceasefire. This is stated in the statement of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“We call on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint, prevent the escalation of hostilities and immediately return to a sustainable ceasefire,” — her words are cited site foreign policy department.

Zakharova added that in Moscow they perceive with deep concern the development of events in which civilians are dying. This is fraught with the resumption of a full-scale military confrontation and further deterioration of the already deplorable humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Russia reiterates its principled and consistent position, reflected in the resolutions of the General Assembly and the UN Security Council, in support of a comprehensive and long-term settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the two-state principle. An end to violence is possible only within the framework of the negotiation process, the result of which should be the realization of the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders.
