Zakharova called Blinken’s conversation with Lavrov a planned action before the US elections

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on the conversation of the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov, calling it an action before the US presidential election. This is reported by the publication Lenta.ru.

“This is not even an advertisement, this is an initially planned action in order to somehow build up some, if I can say, muscles on the international track during their election campaign,” the representative of the Foreign Ministry said.

In addition, she said that the conversation between the politicians was short, and the American diplomat himself was the initiator. It is known that the US State Department presented the conversation as full-fledged negotiations. Zakharova links such actions of the White House with the desire to increase the authority of the current US administration.

Earlier, the Foreign Minister announced Blinken’s desire to communicate with Lavrov at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The US Secretary of State has received a request for contact with Lavrov.
