Foreign Ministry spokesman Zakharov: Washington staged a genocide of Russian journalists in the United States
The American authorities orchestrated the genocide of Russian journalists and other media workers in the United States. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, speaking at a meeting of the information committee at the UN headquarters in New York. Her words brought TASS.
“The real genocide of Russian journalists and journalists in general is organized just in the United States of America,” the representative of the foreign policy department emphasized.
The diplomat said that Washington is delaying the extension of visas for journalists from Russia. US consulates in the country refuse to renew visas for correspondents, Zakharova pointed out. Because of this problem, Russian journalists have to turn to American missions located in other states, said the official representative of the Foreign Ministry.
Journalists from the pool of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov did not receive American visas, although they were supposed to cover the Foreign Minister’s trip to meetings of the UN Security Council. Zakharova stated that the United States played a show with the issuance of visas to this group of media representatives.
