YouTube creators have filed a class action lawsuit against OpenAI. The creators allege that OpenAI used their content without consent to train its neural networks.
The lawsuit claims that OpenAI transcribed millions of YouTube videos without the creators’ permission to enhance its generative AI software.
“OpenAI allegedly transcribed millions of YouTube videos without the consent of their creators to train its generative artificial intelligence software, according to a new federal lawsuit,” the agency said in a statement.

The New York Times reported in April that AI developers, including OpenAI, Google, and Meta, are reportedly bypassing legal restrictions.
They allegedly gather information from the internet, including millions of hours of YouTube videos, to train their AI systems despite prohibitions against such actions.
