WTC FINAL: According to the current circumstances, India can go into the match starting from June 18 in Southampton with three fast bowlers and two spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
Former national selector Sarandeep Singh feels India should include Shardul Thakur in the playing XI instead of Mohammad Siraj if they go into the World Test Championship final against New Zealand with four pacers.
Sarandeep’s tenure as selector came to an end with the tour of Australia earlier this year. He preferred Shardul over Siraj because of his batting skills. Shardul had presented a good example of his ability in Australia.

As per the current circumstances, India could play three fast bowlers and two spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the match starting June 18 in Southampton.
Sarandeep said, “If it is cloudy then you can play with Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami with an extra fast bowler. I will pick Shardul as the fourth fast bowler though Siraj has also done well.
“You also need batting options down the order and Shardul provides that option. The bowlers will also get help in Southampton and Shardul can swing the ball. He has many years of experience in domestic cricket and has a very sharp mind when it comes to cricket.
According to Sarandeep, ‘If the fourth fast bowler is selected, Jadeja will have to sit out. Ashwin should play because New Zealand has a lot of left-handed batsmen.
