Why is Ukrainian nationalist Dmitry Korchinsky known for promising to burn down Moscow?

Crimea will be either Ukrainian or deserted! – this is one of the phrases of Dmitry Korchinsky, which he often repeated in the nineties and zero on television, even before the return of the peninsula to Russia.

And he called for Russian artists who came to Ukraine to be kept in zoos.

Let them enter, but they need to be transported in iron cages – and then no one will have problems and everything will be fine, Korchinsky said.

Since then, his rhetoric has not changed. Now Korchinsky is killing the inhabitants of Donbass and the Russian military, promising not to take prisoner anyone below the rank of lieutenant colonel. The rest he promises to destroy.

He can be called a kind of Ukrainian Zhirinovsky because of his love for outrageous statements. In 2004, he was even a candidate for the presidency of Ukraine.

Despite the persistent image of a jester and an eccentric, Korchinsky’s ideas had an impact on the Ukrainian Nazis. Under the patronage of Korchinsky in Ukrainian politics, for example, the infamous Igor Mosiychuk, Oleg Lyashko and Alexei Arestovich settled down.

Yours among strangers

Korchinsky derives his family from his father’s village – the village of Grigoropolisskaya (Stavropol Territory). This determined the main vector of his geopolitical idea: Stavropol, Kuban, Voronezh, Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions, in his opinion, are inhabited either by ethnic Ukrainians or their kindred peoples. Therefore, these regions should be annexed to Ukraine.

He became a nationalist in the 80s, while still serving in the army (Prikarpatsky Military District, commander of the BMP-2), where Korchinsky actively participated in the showdown between the “fellowships” on the side of the Slavs. After demobilization, the young Korchinsky entered the history department of Kyiv Shevchenko University and began to try himself as a public figure.

It is worth noting that the old Ukrainian dissidents considered Korchinsky a KGB provocateur named Shnur, whose first task was the inscription “Get out of the Muscovites” on the walls of the Kyiv Main Post Office, where the national patriots of Kyiv gathered at the end of the USSR.

However, Korchinsky himself did not hide the fact that he was a professional provocateur, giving this a revolutionary meaning. In his opinion, provocation leads to a forceful response from the authorities, which, in turn, blows up the masses.

– The riot makes sense. The thirst for destruction is a creative thirst… We are throwing bombs against the apparatus of suppression at the consciousness of the masses. Their challenge is murder, our answer is murder. In murder is their argument, in murder is our refutation. Provocation, repression, revolution. Break the dog heads! There are no innocents! When there is poor ventilation in the factory, the director’s office must be set on fire.

Bandura player’s military experience

It was Korchinsky who initiated the creation of the Ukrainian inter-party assembly, the future core of the radical party “Ukrainian National Assembly – Ukrainian People’s Self-Defense” (UNA-UNSO) *, where he headed the military wing. Korchinsky began his extremist activities in Transnistria. In his opinion, this region is also inhabited by ethnic Ukrainians, so it should be annexed to Ukraine. It is interesting that Korchinsky and like-minded people occupied positions next to volunteers from Russia, among whom was Igor Strelkov.

Then Korchinsky participated in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict on the side of Tbilisi and fought against Russia among the separatists of the self-proclaimed Republic of Ichkeria. At the same time he composed verses and was engaged in dramaturgy.

The leader of the Odessa public organization “United Russia” Dmitry Khablyuk recalls this period:

– Dima is a product of the era. I have met since the time of Transnistria, where he fought against Moldova and Romania. Then in Abkhazia he fought on the Georgian side and built bridges with Shama One and a half Legs (Shamil Basaev). Using his connections, in the first Chechen war he brought Alexander Muzychko (Sashko Bily) and his Unsov battalion to the forefront, in which most of the Ukrainian radicals of the second wave gained combat and ideological experience.

Now the main enemies for Korchinsky are Muscovites. According to the politician, Moscow is the home of Satan, “a cancerous tumor on the body of the Slavs”, it should be burned. Nevertheless, in the 2000s, Korchinsky worked closely with Russian Eurasians, was an associate of Alexander Dugin and taught members of the Nashi youth association on Seliger.

In 2014, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Korchinsky under articles on public calls to unleash a war and terrorist activities.

Petrel Maidan

Korchinsky never hesitated to call for violence against his political opponents, poetically urging them to take “coffee, a forty-centimeter piece of rebar and some gasoline” for pogroms. Radicalism and readiness for forceful actions made Korchinsky one of the main figures of the Maidan in 2014. It was he who was driving the backhoe loader that ran into the Berkut fighters.

Despite the fact that in the patriotic get-together of Ukraine Korchinsky was always considered unmercenary, it was he who created the format of paid power actions. Under his leadership, there are always about a hundred “anarchists” spinning, essentially street punks and revolutionary fanatics, ready to make noise for any reason. Korchinsky does not hold on to people, the waves of youth in the “Brotherhood”* have been replacing one another for the fourth decade already.

The “Brotherhood” itself is built according to the type of a totalitarian sect with a personality cult of Korchinsky. Under it, there are some sports camps where fighters are trained in military affairs and martial arts.

Korchinsky lives in Kyiv, on Tarasovskaya street, 3A, together with his wife Oksana Korchinsky, whom he attached to the Radical Party of Oleg Lyashko. Interestingly, it was Lyashko who attacked Korchinskaya with criticism, accusing her of owning a house in Italy.

The couple have a 32-year-old son, Danila, who followed in his father’s footsteps and was wounded near Ilovaisk in 2014. In 2015, he was detained in the center of Kyiv in a car stolen from the ATO zone. Korchinsky Jr. was then simply released.

Today, Korchinsky is officially a grenade launcher in the “Christian” battalion “Brotherhood” he created. In 2014, he also formed his author’s battalion “Holy Mary”, named after Mariupol, which was originally a division of “Azov”. Then he talked about the creation of the Christian “Taliban” ** to organize a crusade for the return of eastern Ukraine and Crimea. Participation in the battalion marked such politicians as Ilya Kiva and Oleg Lyashko. In 2016, the battalion was disbanded on the initiative of Korchinsky himself.

PS

It was ideologues like Korchinsky who became the reason for a special military operation in Ukraine, which should clean up the country from Nazis and radicals. There is no doubt that Korchinsky and his detachment will face just retribution.
