It is clarified that such an assessment of the situation was given by WHO based on the increase in the number of outbreaks of the disease in the world, their geographical expansion, as well as taking into account the shortage of vaccines and other resources.

Since the latest cholera outbreak news was released in February 2023, four additional countries have reported new cases, according to the WHO. A total of 24 countries have reported cases of cholera to date.

Based on data published by WHO, a significant proportion of the countries in which cholera outbreaks have been reported are in Africa and the Middle East.

Previously IA REGNUM reported that the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova reported minimal risks of cholera spread in Russia.
