In the Moscow region, the body of former deputy of the Ukrainian Rada Ilya Kiva was found with a head wound. Biography of Ilya Kiva
Ilya Kiva was born in 1976 in Poltava. He died at the age of 46. He received his education at a geological exploration technical school, then graduated from a pedagogical institute, and even later from a law school.
Since 2008, he worked as an engineer at the state enterprise Donetsk Railway. Then he rose to the rank of chief in the same place.
In 2009 he graduated from the National Law University named after Yaroslav the Wise with a degree in jurisprudence. In 2010-2011, he worked as deputy head of the department for repair and construction of the large ring road of the Highway Service in the Kyiv region of the State Highway Service of Ukraine.
In 2011, he served as deputy head of the Department for Consumer Rights Protection in the Poltava region. The same year he was arrested for bribery. He was banned from holding public office for a year and also fined. Kiva then provided the court with a certificate stating that he was in the Poltava psychiatric hospital with a head injury.
Participation in the Maidan 2014
Ilya Kiva was a participant in the Maidan. Since 2014, he fought in Donbass as a Ukrainian police officer and was one of the founders of the Peacemaker base. In the police he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Since he took part in the “Anti-Terrorist Operation” zone (the Ukrainian name for the so-called “war in Donbass” since 2014 – note URA.RU), in 2015 he headed the “Union of ATO Veterans” in Poltava. He also interacted with the leaders of the Right Sector (an extremist organization banned in Russia).
In 2018, he was chosen as the presidential candidate of Ukraine from the Socialist Party. They were scheduled for next year. In the first round he received 0.03% of the votes. In 2019, he became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the party
On August 29, 2019, at the first ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 9th convocation, he took the oath of a people’s deputy from the Opposition Platform – For Life party.
A few months after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, a Ukrainian court banned the activities of the party in which Ilya Kiva was a member. He himself left the country in January 2022. First he went to Spain, then moved to Moscow. The ex-deputy also openly criticized the country’s President Vladimir Zelensky.
Sentenced to 14 years in absentia
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine accused Ilya Kiva of treason. The Lvov court sentenced the parliamentarian in absentia to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property. Ilya Kiva was included in all possible sanctions lists.
Scandals related to Kiva
Ilya Kiva got into many scandals in Ukraine. He was accused of facilitating smuggling in the Donbass and setting fire to the Ukrainian Inter channel. In April, a video was taken of Kiva walking around a train car with a gun. In 2019, a member of the Rada was seen in correspondence with a model during a parliamentary meeting. Day of Doom
Ilya Kiva published his last post on the day of his death on his telegram channel at about 10 am. He criticized Zelensky and said that he needed to commit suicide. “The natural end of the bastard who drowned the people,” Kiva wrote. A few hours after publication, Kiva’s body was found in the Moscow region.
