we will not tolerate a Chinese ban on Micron – Kommersant

US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo yesterday statedthat the United States “will not tolerate” China’s ban on purchases of products from the leading American chip manufacturer Micron, introduced a few days ago. Ms. Raimondo told a press conference that the US “strongly opposes” China’s actions against Micron. Last week, Chinese authorities banned local critical infrastructure operators from buying products from US semiconductor maker Micron. China’s Cyberspace Administration (CAC) said that Micron’s products have not passed cybersecurity checks.

According to Ms. Raimondo, such actions by China “are aimed at an individual American company without any reason”: “We see this as an attempt at economic pressure, so we will not tolerate it. In addition, we do not believe that such attempts will have any success.” The minister also added that the US is “working closely with its partners to address issues that relate to China’s non-market activities.”
