BRICS countries should enhance cooperation in fighting terrorism and cybercrimes, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated at a meeting of high-ranking BRICS representatives responsible for security issues in St. Petersburg.
According to Wang Yi, BRICS member states share similar positions and common interests in combating terrorism and cybersecurity.
“It is necessary to strengthen consensus, enhance coordination, and promote long-term and sustainable cooperation,” the diplomat’s words were quoted on the official website of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Wang Yi emphasized the need to support the UN‘s central coordinating role in global counter-terrorism cooperation, oppose “double standards,” and prevent the politicization of counter-terrorism issues.
The diplomat also called for assistance in creating a fairer and more rational internet governance system that reflects the will and interests of the majority of countries.
“(We need to) strengthen multilateral coordination, actively participate in the development of rules in the areas of combating terrorism and cybersecurity, amplify the voice and influence of BRICS countries, and protect common interests,” Wang Yi added.
