Since November of this year, Serbia will not be able to import Russian oil due to EU sanctions. This was stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

According to him, the country consumes 350 tons of fuel oil daily, and in winter it will need 7 times more. At the same time, there is not enough fuel oil at the refinery of the Serbian Petroleum Industry (NIS).

“It must be borne in mind that from November 1, we will no longer be able to import Russian oil under the current sanctions, and God knows what sanctions will be introduced by then,” Vučić was quoted by TASS.

On the night of May 31, the heads of state and government of the European Union agreed on the imposition of an embargo on the import of two-thirds of oil from Russia as part of the sixth package of sanctions. At the same time, the EU had to withdraw oil supplies from the Russian Federation via pipelines from the sanctions regime, as well as make an exception for Bulgaria, Hungary, Croatia and Slovakia, whose dependence on energy resources from Russia is extremely high.
