It is necessary to strive to ensure that the housing and communal services sector is efficient and inexpensive, said State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin on the air of the Vremya program on Channel One, commenting on the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
In his speech, the head of state proposed launching a comprehensive modernization program for housing and communal services in Russia, synchronizing it with other infrastructure development plans, as well as overhauling the housing stock.
“Today, the President said what the Government and regions should do, stressed that this is extremely important,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
In particular, according to the speaker, in the field of housing and communal services, “the task should be set in such a way that the “communal” is effective and not costly.” As an example of reform, the politician cited agriculture, which was previously called a “black hole”, as it is now housing and communal services.
“Now agriculture has become one of the promising industries, and it competes on the world market,” Viacheslav Volodin emphasized.
