Russia not only shares the principles of protecting sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs, but is also trying to convince other countries that the world order should be fair and the world should be multipolar. This was stated by Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin during a meeting with Speaker of the Legislative Assembly for the Transitional Period of the Republic of Burkina Faso Usman Buguma. The words of the speaker are given on the official website of the State Duma.
The meeting took place within the framework of the Second International Parliamentary Conference “Russia – Africa”. “If we are talking about the development of our states, only those who preserve their independence and protect their sovereignty have prospects,” the Chairman of the State Duma emphasized.
For his part, Ousmane Buguma said that Burkina Faso sees the issue of security as a priority in developing relations with Russia. “Our country is suffering a lot from terrorism today, so Russia’s support, including logistical support and the most diverse, is extremely important for us,” he said.
According to the speaker, the people of the Republic have made a clear and obvious choice: they want “not only to diversify international partnership, but also to strengthen it with Russia.” “This is not a short-term phenomenon, this is a long-term and confident choice – partnership with Russia,” Usman Buguma assured.

The politician specified that it is extremely important for Burkina Faso that Russia “respects very deeply the culture of other countries” and builds its relations on the principles of non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states. “Our historical partner France, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations, and we really do not want history to repeat itself,” Ousmane Buguma explained.
Following the meeting, Volodin announced an agreement reached to create a working group, “which was proposed by colleagues.” “Perhaps, then we will reach the format of signing an agreement between our parliaments,” he said. – Also, according to the chairman of the State Duma, we can talk about the creation of a bilateral working commission, “designed to discuss, propose solutions that concern our countries.”

The Second International Parliamentary Conference “Russia – Africa” is being held at the State Duma on March 19-20. More than 40 official parliamentary delegations from most African countries take part in the event.
