Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin held a meeting with the leadership of universities in the Bryansk region, discussed the implementation of the task of increasing the number of state-funded places in engineering specialties. This was reported on Monday in the press service of the chamber.

As Parlamentskaya Gazeta wrote, on May 29 the speaker of the State Duma is on a working trip to the Bryansk region. The event was attended by the leadership of four universities, two regional branches and Governor Alexander Bogomaz.

During the meeting, Volodin noted that universities should not have non-core specialties for them. He also named the quality of education as the most important criterion.

“And of course, it is necessary to move away from the practice of teaching students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a completely different profile in the master’s program. This is especially true for humanities students entering the magistracy for engineering specialties, ”the chairman of the State Duma emphasized.

During the announcement of the Address to the Federal Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed returning to the traditional Russian system of training in universities. In addition, after basic education at the university, narrow specialists should have the opportunity to continue their studies in the magistracy and residency, the president said. In addition, he proposed to single out postgraduate studies, which train personnel for teaching and research activities, as a separate level of vocational education.
