Prosecutor’s Office of the Volgograd Region went to court with a statement on the recognition of Nazi crimes during the Great Patriotic War as genocide. The application was submitted on behalf of the Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov in connection with the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, which became a turning point in the course of the war. The prosecutor’s office demands that the actions of the Nazi invaders and their accomplices in the occupied territory of the Stalingrad region from July 1942 to February 1943 be recognized as war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The prosecutor’s office of the Volgograd region claims that the invaders committed massacres against the civilian population, organized forcible export into slavery, confiscated food and property, introduced labor service to work in favor of Germany and the Wehrmacht. The statement was sent to the Volgograd Regional Court to protect the national interests of Russia, the rights and interests of the relatives of the victims, as well as to bring information to the world community about the victims of the occupation and punishers, to restore historical justice.
