Voenkor Sladkov spoke about the use of weapons during the Second World War in a special operation

All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) reporter Alexander Sladkov, who covers the special operation, said that both Russia and Ukraine are increasingly using weapons from the first half and the middle of the last century. At the same time, sometimes it is used in conjunction with modern technology – copters and smartphones.

As Mr. Sladkov writes, “the use of small arms from the times of the Second World War” began almost from the first days of the military conflict. “It was a rather expected move, heavy machine guns such as the Browning M2 and DShK were still used around the world, the cartridge had not changed in decades, and the requirements for weight and mobility had decreased,” the journalist notes in his article. Telegram channel.

According to him, from the beginning of foreign deliveries, old rifles, carbines, machine guns and submachine guns also massively went to the Ukrainian troops. “But we can also meet SKS, early-series AKs and much more,” he writes.

According to Alexander Sladkov, “the appearance of historical artillery on the battlefield was less expected.” Moreover, howitzers of the Second World War are used on both front lines, and some of the rare military equipment “changed its original purpose.”

“Anti-aircraft guns have turned into conventional artillery, 57-millimeter guns are returning to the troops, for example. Obsolete tanks are used as assault guns,” says Mr. Sladkov.

According to him, all this casts doubt on the earlier bet “on highly specialized expensive systems.” “On the one hand, a big war does not treat complex equipment well, but on the other hand, there is nothing to replace it, it is not designed for mass losses and rapid production,” the reporter notes.

Alexander Sladkov believes that against this background, attention should be paid to weapons models that can “quickly saturate the troops.”

“Our military-industrial complex demonstrated various options for cheap products positioned as weapons for third world countries. Among them are mortars on truck chassis, and armored vehicles, and ”zushki” with remote control, and dozens of other positions, ”he concluded.

What happens after the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine – in the online broadcast “Kommersant”.
