Vnukovo stated that the appearance on the airport board of a direct flight from Moscow to Tbilisi is the result of a technical failure, writes RBC. Direct flights between the Russian Federation and Georgia have been interrupted since 2019.
“There are no changes in the Vnukovo schedule. At the moment, a technical failure has been fixed on the scoreboard. All necessary measures are being taken to eliminate it,” airport representatives said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to stop direct flights between Russia and Georgia in the summer of 2019. The reason was the mass anti-Russian protests of Mikhail Saakashvili’s supporters.
According to Kommersant, at the end of 2022, Moscow made it clear that it could resume direct Russian-Georgian flights, as the republic takes a neutral position on the conflict in Ukraine and does not succumb to pressure from the West.
