After leaving the T20 captaincy of Team India, now Virat Kohli has announced to leave the captaincy of his IPL team Royal Challenger Bangalore. Kohli will not take over the reins of RCB team after IPL 2021. Virat has announced this in a video shared by Bangalore on his Twitter. Under the captaincy of Kohli, the RCB team has not been able to win the IPL title even once in the last 8 years.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team reached the playoffs in IPL 2020 under the leadership of Virat, but there the team had to face defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 2016, under the captaincy of Kohli, the team had reached the final, but even there Hyderabad did not let Bangalore’s dream of winning the trophy come true. Kohli is currently leading the team in the second phase of IPL 2021 in the UAE and would like to bid goodbye to the captaincy by making his team a champion. Virat said in the shared video that he has taken this decision after talking to the team management and the players. The RCB captain said that he would continue to play for the Bangalore team in the IPL, however.
