The solemn Victory Parade began on Red Square in Moscow. The event is dedicated to the memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the fight against Nazism.

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at Red Square. Also at the parade are the heads of seven CIS countries. The event is attended by State Duma deputies, as well as Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Patriarch Kirill and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

The parade began with the introduction of the Russian national flag to Red Square. The parade is commanded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, General of the Army Oleg Salyukov.
