US Voters Face Worst Presidential Choice in History. Washington Post columnist George Will calls this year’s US presidential election the worst choice in the country’s history.
“Many of the previous 59 presidential elections offered choices between mediocrities, even some scoundrels… But this year’s choice is the worst,” Will writes.
He describes Republican candidate Donald Trump as a “volcano of erratic thoughts and tantrums” and calls his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, “malleable.”
“Prudence is a virtue, so don’t blame her handlers for mostly shielding her from interactions more challenging than interviews with school newspapers,” Will remarks with irony.
Will highlights their contrasting approaches to various issues, stating that neither is promising. Trump, he notes, often says too little, while Harris tends to over-explain, creating “different styles of obscurity.”
He also criticizes their vice-presidential picks, finding both candidates ill-suited for leadership. Democrat Tim Walz, he argues, fits his own description of a “fool,” while Republican J.D. Vance tells “grim tales.”
“Whoever wins, both parties should repent for what they’ve put the country through,” Will concludes.
US presidential election will be held on November 5, with Vice President Kamala Harris representing the Democratic Party and former President Donald Trump representing the Republican Party.
