US officials have accused Chinese hackers of breaching the Treasury Department’s systems.
According to reports hackers accessed department’s workspace and non-classified documents. The incident said to have occurred in early December as confirmed by the Treasury Department.

An investigation underway in collaboration with the FBI and other agencies to assess impact of the breach. Department has not disclosed which documents were accessed or how long the hackers had access to the system.

A spokesperson from the Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C., told BBC News that allegations are baseless and stem from hostile US-China relations.
