US President Joe Biden said the United States plans to build grain storage facilities in Poland on the border with Ukraine. He said that he is “working closely with European partners to release 20 million tons of wheat from Ukraine to world markets.”
Joe Biden explained that the railway track in Ukraine is wider than European, so there are difficulties in delivering Ukrainian grain to Europe. “We are going to build temporary granaries on the border with Ukraine, in Poland,” he said, speaking in Philadelphia with a speech on the economic situation in the United States (quoted by Interfax).
On June 12, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmitry Senik said that the authorities had managed to lay two routes for grain export through Poland and Romania. Today, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Markiyan Dmitrasevich said that the export of grain through the Black Sea could be unsafe.
