The United States should be held responsible for the sabotage at Nord Stream, if they are related, according to an investigation by well-known American journalist Seymour Hersh. This was stated at a briefing by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning.

Sources told Seymour Hersh that John Biden knew about the preparations for the operation 9 months before it took place. During NATO exercises near the island of Bornholm, American divers planted C4 explosives near gas pipelines, and then beacons were dropped from Norwegian aircraft, which activated it.

“We paid attention to the relevant publication,” the Chinese diplomat said, RIA Novosti reports.

If the conclusions of the investigation are true, then the US behavior is unacceptable, Washington will have to bear responsibility and explain itself to the world community, Mao Ning said.
