New Jersey US Senator and Democrat Bob Menendez called on the Senate to vote for new sanctions on Russia.
He made this statement amid the publication of The New York Times, which reportedly allegedly involved the Russian Federation in the killing of the US military in Afghanistan. This news sparked a stream of questions from legislators in Washington who wanted answers.
Mendes said on Twitter that if US President Donald Trump “refuses to hold Vladimir Putin’s Russian counterpart accountable for financing terrorism against US troops in Afghanistan,” then Congress should step up its activities again.
“My proposal for sanctions against the Russian Federation came out in December and is waiting for a vote,” he recalled.
