Polling stations have opened for presidential elections in several states of the United States. Voters in Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, New Jersey, New York and Virginia can cast their ballots starting at 6:00 a.m. Washington time.
Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democrats and former President Donald Trump for the Republicans are running for president.
The results are highly uncertain as this year’s election is very different from last time. Unlike 2020, when Joe Biden led the polls and cruised to victory, no clear front-runner has emerged this time.
Support for Trump and Harris is close, with only a small margin separating them, within the statistical margin of error.
Alongside the presidential election, Congress elections are also taking place, with all 435 House seats and a third of Senate seats up for grabs. These results will shape not only the presidency but also the balance of power in Congress, which is crucial for advancing any new administration’s policies.

With polling stations now open, the voting phase intensified, through over 76 million Americans have already voted by mail or in early voting.
