Breaking long-standing policies US government set to allow police to conduct operations in schools and religious institutions to catch people without papers.
President Donald Trump is expected to approve this soon. In a statement, acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Benjamin Hoffman confirmed this move, stating that offenders will no longer be able to hide in schools or places of worship.

The approach differs from policies during Biden’s administration, where a 2011 directive discouraged arrests in sensitive areas. This directive continued under Biden but will be reversed under Trump’s leadership.
Regarding the Ukraine-Russia war, Trump has announced plans to call Vladimir Putin to urge an end to the conflict. If Putin refuses, the US will impose further sanctions on Moscow. Trump’s administration has stated its aim to end the long-standing conflict with Russia. Newly appointed Secretary of State Mark Rubio emphasized this in his first public statement.
Additionally, Pentagon official Robert Wilkie mentioned that if Russia ignores the peace appeal US may leverage its energy resources. America could increase liquefied natural gas supplies to Europe, which might reduce global oil prices potentially crippling Russia’s economy.

President Trump has also signed an executive order ending birthright citizenship in the US. Previously, any child born on US soil automatically gained citizenship, regardless of the parents’ immigration status. The executive order now mandates that at least one parent must be a US citizen or a green card holder for the child to acquire citizenship.
This policy faces legal challenges as150-year-old right to citizenship by birth constitutionally protected. Legal experts argue that an executive order cannot override constitutional rights, and the matter may end up in court.
On his first day in office President Trump signed 78 executive orders most of which focused on reversing previous policies. The birthright citizenship policy, in particular, has sparked mixed reactions across the globe.
