Trump Threatens Greenland Takeover, Orders More US Troops to the Arctic
Donald Trump has once again revived his controversial push for US control over Greenland declaring that Washington will secure the island “at any cost.” The former president now seeking second term has reportedly instructed Pentagon to deploy additional troops to strengthen America’s presence in Arctic.
During a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte at White House, Trump justified his stance by citing national security concerns.
He emphasized that Greenland’s strategic location is vital for US and suggested that Denmark—under whose jurisdiction island falls—lacks capability to manage its defense effectively.

Trump’s remarks have drawn sharp criticism from Greenlandic political leaders. Island’s outgoing prime minister and his likely successor James Frederick Nelson have both rejected any notion of US control.
Nelson urged Greenlanders to take charge of their own future rather than succumb to foreign influence.
Despite opposition Trump’s insistence on acquiring Greenland signals potential geopolitical tensions, with NATO leaders carefully distancing themselves from Washington’s ambitions.
