Newly elected President Donald Trump wasted no time implementing his campaign promises. Soon after taking office he began strict measures against undocumented people leading to numerous arrests across different states. Plainclothes officers involved in these operations and some detainees reportedly refused to show identification.
In immigrant-heavy areas fear has gripped communities. Streets now deserted especially among those lacking proper documentation. Adding to the anxiety authorities have been granted permission to arrest immigrants even at sensitive locations.
Department of Homeland Security issued new directives stating that these restrictions were removed to prevent undocumented individuals from hiding in such places. Another order declared that if someone detained cannot prove they’ve lived in US for at least two years they could deported promptly.

Legal experts and advocacy groups have criticized these measures. Organizations like the Center for Law and Social Policy warned that arresting immigrants in sensitive locations could harm families including US-born children causing severe mental distress.
Security along the Mexico border has tightened with emergency measures and stricter enforcement. A project offering legal status to immigrants has also halted by border authorities.
Since taking office Trump has aggressively pursued policies to deport undocumented immigrants and has ordered government employees working under programs promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion to step down.
Trump has also vowed to end global conflicts. After addressing issues in Lebanon and Palestine he has shifted focus to the Russia-Ukraine war. In a series of statements Trump has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin of imposing high tariffs and sanctions unless the war stopped.

On immigration Trump promised during his victory speech to secure U.S. borders. In line with this, his administration has deployed about 1,000 troops to the southern border and enforced a “fast-track removal” policy. Immigrants unable to prove two-year residency in U.S. face immediate deportation.
Additionally, Trump has labeled diversity and inclusion programs as obstacles to building a merit-based America. By January 31 his administration aims to shut down related organizations and terminate employees working in those sectors.
