US Announces Kamala Harris’s Interest in Arms Control Agreement with Russia

Vice President , if elected as president, would be interested in pursuing an arms control agreement between Washington and Moscow, according to Thomas M. Countryman, Chairman of the Arms Control Association and former US Deputy Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security.

At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, Thomas M. Countryman confirmed Harris’s commitment to the issue. “The short answer is yes,” he said when asked about her interest in such an agreement.

Countryman also emphasized that Harris would be “much more capable” on the matter than Republican candidate Donald , stating, “We are ready to talk to about arms control without preconditions, regardless of what happens in … the door remains open.”
