One lakh youth have hoped for the recruitment of Assistant Professor in 2003 posts for 47 subjects in non-government aided colleges of Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission had proposed the examination from May 26. But like other exams, this too has to be postponed due to Corona.
The commission had started the recruitment after four and a half years. This was the first time since the commencement of the written examination in 2014 that such a large number of posts were advertised. Prior to that, from 1984 to 2014, recruitment was done through direct interview. After the dispute regarding the selection was over, the matter reached the Supreme Court and the examination system was implemented.
Due to Corona, the commission had postponed the examination on May 11. However, after the normalcy after the second wave, the commission’s activities have started getting back on track. Members and staff including President Ishwar Sharan Vishwakarma have started coming. According to the sources, the preparations for the exam have started.
150 out of 2002 posts reserved for women
Out of 2003 posts of Assistant Professor, 150 are reserved for women candidates. 25 posts are reserved for dependents of freedom fighters while 61 posts are reserved for disabled candidates. Not a single post is reserved for women out of the maximum 162 posts in Hindi. Maximum 25 posts are reserved for women in Geography subject. Out of 159 posts of Chemistry, 23 are reserved for women, 6 for Divyang and 3 for dependents of freedom fighters. In co-educational colleges, 1728 posts will be recruited while in women’s colleges 274 posts.
A large number of Assistant Professor posts are vacant
In addition to the 2003 posts of Assistant Professor in non-government aided colleges, a large number of posts are still vacant. The Directorate of Higher Education had received information of 3920 vacancies till 31 December 2019, on which permission for appointment was sought from the government. These posts were till 31 March 2020. After that till 31 December 2020, the information of 520 vacancies was received by the Directorate of Higher Education. These posts are till 31 March 2021. But the Directorate had sent a requisition for 2002 posts to the Commission.

Ishwar Sharan Vishwakarma (Chairman, Higher Education Service Commission) said, ‘The examination of 2003 posts of 47 subjects is to be conducted in several phases. Will conduct the test when there is some compatibility. When will the exam be decided in the commission meeting but we have started our work. Our aim is to complete the selection process expeditiously as I believe one appointment makes the whole whole.
Dr. Saurabh Singh (President, Higher Education Competitive Sangharsh Morcha) said, ‘Due to Corona, the recruitment of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission was most affected. But the Commission has released the revised calendar showing readiness. We also expect the Higher Education Service Commission to announce the date of Assistant Professor Recruitment soon so that we can start our preparation accordingly.
