Former State Duma deputy Magomed Gadzhiev expelled from United Russia. Shortly before that, the Ministry of Justice entered him into the register of foreign agents.
Dagestan regional branch of “United Russia” explained decision by the fact that the ex-deputy committed actions “discrediting the party”. Head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov, commenting decision of the party, accused the ex-deputy of treason. According to him, he was “ready to throw mud at everything that is close and dear to us” for a “European passport”.
Magomed Gadzhiev was a State Duma deputy in 2003–2021. He was included in the register of foreign agents on May 26, 2023. According to the Ministry of Justice, he declared support for the Ukrainian authorities and “expressed his readiness to cooperate with foreign sources in order to obtain foreign citizenship.” According to Ukrainian media, he sent humanitarian aid to the zone of military operation. According to the Romanian portal RBN, Mr. Gadzhiev allegedly tried to provide sensitive information about Russia in exchange for obtaining a European passport.
