Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter shot down, HIMARS MLRS shells intercepted — Ministry of Defense

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue a military special operation in Ukraine, during which aviation and air defense systems successfully counter threats from the air.

This is stated in the latest military report of the Ministry of Defense, which was announced at a briefing on May 22 by the official representative of the military department, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

“Air defense systems in the area of ​​the settlement of Lozovoe of the Donetsk People’s Republic shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force”, he reported.

The general also said that over the past day, five rockets of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system were intercepted in the air.

“In addition, 17 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the areas of the settlements of Kremenets, Sands, Aleksandrovka, Veseleye of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Sladkaya Balka, Marfopol of the Zaporozhye region, Sergeevka and Lyubimovka of the Kherson region,” Konashenkov said.

According to the Ministry of Defense, since the start of the special military operation, the following have been destroyed: 428 aircraft, 235 helicopters, 4,262 unmanned aerial vehicles, 424 anti-aircraft missile systems, 9,257 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,100 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 4,881 field artillery pieces and mortar, as well as 10379 units of special military vehicles.

Previously EADaily reported that in the Belgorod region, the village of Glotovo, Graivoronsky district, was shelled from the Ukrainian side. As a result, a man and a woman were taken to the district hospital with mine-explosive wounds.
