The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue a military special operation in Ukraine, during which aviation and air defense systems successfully counter threats from the air.

This is stated in the latest military report of the Ministry of Defense, which was announced at a briefing on May 13 by the official representative of the military department, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

“Fighter aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the area of ​​​​the city of Kupyansk, Kharkov region, shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force”, he reported.

The general also said that over the past day, three HIMARS rocket launchers had been intercepted by air defense systems.

“In addition, 18 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the areas of the settlements of Veliky Vyselok, Dvurechnoye of the Kharkiv region, Belogorovka, Kremennaya, Svatovo of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Veseleye of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Mirovoe, Pologi of the Zaporozhye Region, Korsunka and Krynki of the Kherson Region,” – listed Konashenkov.

According to the Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of the special military operation, the following have been destroyed: 424 aircraft, 231 helicopters, 4,117 unmanned aerial vehicles, 421 anti-aircraft missile systems, 9,119 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,100 combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems, 4,806 field artillery pieces and mortars, as well as 10167 units of special military vehicles.

Previously EADaily reported that the fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces were shot down: a Su-24 aircraft that launched a missile attack on Luhansk and a MiG-29 fighter of the Ukrainian Air Force covering it were shot down.
