Ukraine should not try to regain Crimea and Sevastopol

Ukraine’s attempts to return Crimea and Sevastopol can lead to extremely negative consequences for the whole world, so Kyiv should not take such actions. This statement was made by former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in an interview for the Wall Street Journal.

“The loss of Sevastopol by Russia, which has never been Ukrainian in history, will be such a fall that the integrity of the state will be threatened,” emphasized Kissinger.

Also in the conversation, he stressed that the desire to make Ukraine a member of NATO was a serious mistake and subsequently led to the Ukrainian conflict.

It is worth adding that today, May 27, Henry Kissinger turns 100 years old. The diplomat, intellectual and Nobel Peace Prize winner is the only politician in American history to have simultaneously served as Secretary of State and National Security Assistant to the President. He has been called the patriarch of US diplomacy and also the man who played a key role in shaping Washington’s course in the 1970s on a number of fronts.

Recall that in November 2022 it became known that Ukraine was developing a plan to seize the Crimea. According to one of the Western publications, Tamila Tasheva, permanent representative of the President of the country on the peninsula, is responsible for it.
