WSJ: Ukraine plans to hold a summit of world leaders without Russia
Ukraine, along with its Western allies, has conceived the idea of organizing a world summit in order to gain support for their plan to end the conflict. About this newspaper The Wall Street Journal said Andriy Yermak, head of the office of the Ukrainian president. There are no plans to invite Russia to the summit.
“We need a unified plan for a responsible civilized world that really wants to live in peace,” Yermak said in an interview.
However, according to him, direct negotiations with the Russian authorities are currently impossible. At the same time, Ukraine is ready to hear the opinions of all countries, even China and Brazil.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that Russia “intends to win” in the Ukrainian conflict, so it is in no hurry to negotiate.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a recent interview said that negotiations with the Russian Federation are possible, but only after the withdrawal of Russian troops from the special operation zone.
