Zelenskyy Heads to Florida for High-Stakes Talks with Trump on Ukraine Peace Plan and Security Guarantees

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday to discuss a proposed 20-point peace framework and American security guarantees for Kyiv, amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s nearly four-year war.

Zelenskyy described the plan as roughly 90 percent complete, with Kyiv aiming for full readiness. He told reporters the talks could yield major decisions before the new year, focusing on U.S.-mediated proposals and protections against future aggression.

Senior Russian advisers continue phone discussions with American officials, intensified after a recent visit to Florida by Moscow’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev. A senior Russian official called recent exchanges positive but accused Ukraine of undermining negotiations, noting sharp differences between Moscow’s discussions with Washington and Kyiv’s positions.

Russia has offered no comment on Ukrainian suggestions for troop withdrawals from parts of Donbas. Zelenskyy has floated creating a demilitarized free economic zone in areas Russian forces failed to capture there.

Diplomatic activity persists despite continued Russian strikes on Ukraine. Attacks in Kharkiv killed civilians, including children, while a missile hit Uman in central Cherkasy region injured several people, including two children, and damaged over 50 homes, according to local officials.

Ukraine’s military claimed responsibility for striking a key oil refinery in Russia’s Rostov region using Storm Shadow missiles. Officials said the facility supplies fuel products to southern Russia and supports Russian army logistics.
