British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced a historic 100-year partnership agreement to provide continued support to Ukraine. He also emphasized UK’s commitment to ensuring Kyiv’s security should ceasefire talks with Russia occur.

During his first visit to Ukraine since taking office in July last year Starmer highlighted the strengthened ties between the two nations and reiterated UK’s dedication to lasting peace Ukraine’s sovereignty, and its right to determine its future.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed plans to double drone production with UK support demonstrating enhanced military cooperation between the two countries.
“We have always been one of the leading countries in relation to the defence of Ukraine. And so you can read into that. But we will be playing our full part. But I don’t want to get ahead of ourselves because this has to be enduring,” he said.
Starmer further assured £40 million in aid for Ukraine’s economic recovery, alongside additional assistance in testing agricultural products and advancing technology. He stressed that any peace agreement must guarantee Ukraine’s security and independence.

Visit also comes amid concerns over US President Donald Trump’s potential return to the White House which could shift international dynamics regarding Ukraine’s war with Russia. Starmer reaffirmed that UK remains committed to supporting Ukraine in achieving peace and stability.
