U.S. and Chinese Commerce Ministers Gina Raimondo and Wang Wentao discussed trade relations and areas of potential cooperation between the countries during a face-to-face meeting in Washington on Thursday, the U.S. Department of Commerce said in a statement.
“Ministers discussed candidly and substantively issues affecting trade relations between the United States and China, including the general atmosphere in both countries for trade and investment, as well as areas of potential cooperation,” – follows from the statement.
During the meeting, as noted, the American minister expressed concern about the recent wave of measures taken by the Chinese authorities against US companies operating in the country.
“This meeting was part of an ongoing effort to keep lines of communication open and to manage our relationship responsibly,” — informed in Vintorg.
Following the results of the contacts, the head of the US Department of Commerce expressed her readiness to further develop cooperation in continuation of the contacts between the leaders of the two countries, held in Bali in November 2022.
