Two firefighters killed in shelling in Donetsk, three more wounded


In the capital of the Donetsk People’s Republic, two employees of the local Ministry of Emergency Situations of the DPR died while extinguishing a fire, three more were injured of varying severity.

The incident occurred on July 18 near the Topaz plant in the Kuibyshev region, where Donetsk firefighters arrived to put out a fire that arose as a result of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As the DAN agency notes, referring to the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, during the elimination of the fire, a new shelling began, under which the fire brigade fell.

“The tank truck stopped at the Topaz passenger stop, near which there was a hit in a trading stall. At 09.28, a VFU artillery shell flew in seven meters from the tank. The fireman died on the spot, three more rescuers and the driver were hospitalized with various injuries in a healthcare facility,” the statement said.

To date, it is already known that the driver died from his injuries in the hospital.

As reported EADailyOn the evening of Friday, June 17, Ukrainian troops fired 20 rockets from the BM-21 “Grad” in the Kyiv and Kuibyshevsky regions of Donetsk. Since the morning of June 18, the shelling of Donetsk has not ceased.
