Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Azerbaijan was compelled to launch a counter-terrorism operation in Nagorno-Karabakh

Erdogan made this statement after holding negotiations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. According to Erdogan, Azerbaijan’s legitimate concerns in Nagorno-Karabakh were not adequately addressed, leading to the necessity for the operation.

Erdogan also expressed hope that Armenia would respond positively to peace initiatives and take honest steps. He emphasized that a peaceful solution should not have any losers, and both sides should demonstrate sincerity in achieving peace and tranquility.

The Turkish President highlighted that Azerbaijan’s operation was conducted with an emphasis on the safety of the civilian population and characterized it as a critical event for the region.

Erdogan had previously proposed a quadrilateral meeting with the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, but there has been no response from the presidents of the other three countries at this time.
