Turkish hotels will accept Mir cards


Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia and Turkey agreed to start accepting the Mir card in Turkish hotels, as well as to increase the use of Russian payment means in Turkish ATMs.

“We also discussed the possibility of making payments in Russian rubles or Turkish lira, the operation of the Mir card in hotels in the Republic of Turkey. We agreed that banks would accept cards, agreed that conditions would be created for the availability of the necessary terminals in hotels,” said Mr. Novak (quoted from TASS).

He added that the countries also agreed to increase flights from both sides to maintain the flow of tourists. According to him, about 4.7 million Russians visited Turkey last year. Today, May 18, Rostourism has approved 450 additional flights to Turkey.

Earlier, US senators proposed imposing sanctions against the Mir payment system. According to them, these means of payment are now accepted in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Armenia. Kommersant reported that in Turkey Mir cards were no longer accepted.
