Despite widespread criticism over his plan to displace Palestinians and seize Gaza U.S. President Donald Trump doubled down on his proposal.

On Thursday, he announced on Truth Social that once war ends Israel will hand over Gaza to the United States.

His statement triggered sharp criticism from Egypt and Russia. UN Secretary-General António Guterres issued a warning against any form of ethnic cleansing in Gaza. At the same time, Israel declared it would sever ties with UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
Trump’s plan to take control of Gaza faced strong opposition from world leaders.
However, on Truth Social, he insisted that Palestinians would be given modern, safe housing, and no U.S. troops would be needed for the transition.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated that Israel had not received any official details of Trump’s proposal. He acknowledged that Gaza’s future requires new discussions but emphasized that any relocation of Palestinians must be voluntary, with other countries agreeing to accept them. Israel’s military has been instructed to prepare for any possible scenario.
Egypt and Russia strongly condemned Trump’s idea. Egypt’s Foreign Ministry warned that this plan would destroy any existing ceasefire agreements and spark new conflicts.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova dismissed proposal as unnecessary and inflammatory. She stressed that ensuring humanitarian aid for Palestinians should be the top priority.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres issued a stern warning against any acts of ethnic cleansing in Gaza. He called for adherence to fundamental principles of international law.
