Amid rising tensions, no agreement reached regarding Ukraine’s mineral resources. U.S. the meeting began with intense disagreements. For months both leaders had been exchanging sharp remarks, but this time, there was no restraint. Discussion escalated into shouting and open conflict.
At start of the meeting, Trump criticized Zelensky in front of journalists, accusing him of gambling with risk of World War III. He made it clear that Ukraine must either reach a deal with Russia or lose U.S. support. Without America’s backing, Trump warned, Ukraine would have to fight alone.
During conversation, Zelensky called Russian President Vladimir Putin a murderer. And insisted that such a person should never be given any concessions. He also criticized Trump’s softer stance on Putin and urged him not to make any compromises. The tension grew further when U.S. Vice President also got involved accusing Zelensky of lacking gratitude. He claimed that Zelensky had disrespected the U.S. President inside the Oval Office.

Marco Rubio calls on Zelenskyy to apologise for ‘fiasco’ with Trump
The US secretary of state has described the meeting between President Zelenskyy and President Trump as a “fiasco” and questioned whether the Ukrainian leader truly wants peace with Russia.
“There was no need for him to go in there and become antagonistic,” Rubio said on CNN, hours after Friday’s meeting devolved into a shouting match.

“That active, open undermining of efforts to bring about peace is deeply frustrating for everyone who’s been involved in communications with them leading up to today, and I think he should apologise for wasting our time for a meeting that was going to end the way it did,” he added.
Rubio also criticised Zelenskyy’s tone when talking to both President Trump and Vice President Vance.
“When you start talking about that aggressively – and the president is a deal maker, he made deals his entire life – you’re not going to get people to the table,” he said.
Additionally, discussions about an agreement on Ukraine’s mineral resources, which could have given U.S. certain control, did not take place. In end, Zelensky and his team left the White House. Later, Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying that Zelensky would be welcome back at White House when he was ready to seek peace.
