U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose sanctions on Russia’s banking sector unless a peace agreement with Ukraine achieved. Trump shared this statement on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday.

Meanwhile, following Russia’s airstrikes in Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a ceasefire through air and sea routes. Zelensky urged European leaders to support his proposal emphasizing that agreeing to this could demonstrate Moscow’s willingness to end three-year-long aggression.
Russia claimed that the peace talks held in Istanbul in 2022 could serve as a starting point to resolve the ongoing conflict.
Even before assuming office there were speculations that Trump would work to end the Russia-Ukraine war. Now in office Trump appears determined to fulfill those expectations.
In his Friday post he mentioned plans to enforce sanctions on Russia’s banking sector. And impose tariffs on other industries keeping those measures active until a peace deal finalized.
