A week after assuming his second term as US President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to Indian media two leaders spoke on Monday discussing various issues.

Modi congratulated Trump on his re-election and emphasized working together for well-being of their nations as well as global peace, prosperity and security. Both agreed to strengthen collaboration between Washington and New Delhi on these fronts.

Previously, in November after Trump’s election victory, Modi had also reached out to congratulate him over the phone.
Trump’s aggressive immigration policies have stirred reactions globally. After Trump issued warnings of imposing tariffs, Colombia reversed its earlier decision and agreed to accept deported migrants via US military aircraft. Following this, the White House announced the withdrawal of its tariff directive.
Trump’s deportation drive has caused anxiety among immigrants in cities like Portland, Oregon, and Wahiawa, Hawaii. Many fear their legal status may soon revoked through executive orders. Various volunteer organizations and churches have stepped forward to support affected communities even hosting prayer meetings to provide solace.

In a controversial move hundreds of migrants have already been deported within Trump’s first week back in office. However, some countries have refused to accept deportees. Colombia initially declined, citing concerns over receiving citizens via military aircraft, but reversed its stance after facing Trump’s tariff threats.
White House and Colombia’s Foreign Ministry later announced reaching an agreement on the issue, averting a potential trade war. Analysts believe this incident serves as a warning for other nations dealing with US immigration policies.

Colombian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo and spokesperson Daniel García Peña set to visit Washington soon to discuss diplomatic ties further. Despite the resolution, concerns over deportation continue to grow among immigrants in US as they brace for Trump’s next actions.
