Previously, Trump had sent a letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, proposing nuclear negotiations. However, Khamenei rejected the offer. In response – Trump issued this two-month ultimatum warning of military strikes if no agreement is reached.
Trump’s administration has adopted “deal or attack” strategy aiming to pressure Iran into fully halting its nuclear activities.
Al Jazeera reported that Trump’s threats have fueled calls within Iran especially among hardliners to pursue nuclear weapons for self-defense. Although Iran has consistently claimed it never sought to build nuclear bombs, rising pressure from Trump’s administration has intensified internal debates.
