US President Donald Trump has postponed the 25% tariff on Mexican goods for another month. In return Mexico has pledged to strengthen border security to prevent drug trafficking.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum discussed the tariff issue with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. After their talks Trump decided to delay the tariffs for 30 days.

Tariffs imposed by Trump on Mexico, Canada, and China have been a regular topic in international media. Last Saturday, after signing an executive order related to tariffs, global reactions were intense.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced countermeasures, while Mexico’s President Sheinbaum warned of possible consequences. This time Trump has softened his stance on the issue.
On Monday, Sheinbaum spoke with Trump regarding the 25% tariff. She confirmed that after reaching an agreement on border security, the tariff decision has been delayed by a month. As part of the agreement, Mexico will deploy 10000 soldiers to strengthen border security, specifically to prevent fentanyl smuggling into US.

Trump, emphasizing trade balance, stated that Mexico is not acting against the U.S. but is a trade partner. He added that both nations should work together to compete against China and other global markets.

Trump also discussed the tariff issue with Trudeau. He agreed to postpone tariffs on Canada for 30 days. In return Canada will share new helicopter technology enhance border security, and take measures to curb drug trafficking. The goal to improve bilateral relations between the two nations.
