Despite promises to end the conflict, Trump administration reportedly worked against Gaza’s peace efforts. Recent revelations from Middle East Eye claim that United States secretly lobbied to block Egypt’s proposed plan for Gaza’s post-war reconstruction.

Egypt had presented this alternative plan, which was later approved by Arab League. However, Trump administration allegedly pushed against it through UAE.

Reports suggest that Yusuf Al Otaiba, UAE’s influential ambassador to US and a close ally of Trump, pressured American lawmakers to act against Egypt’s interests.
This lobbying aimed to force Egypt into accepting displaced Palestinians in its territory a move Cairo resisted. Concerns have emerged that UAE opposed Egypt’s plan to gain greater influence over Gaza’s future.
Both UAE and Egypt have strongly supported Mohammad Dahlan, a former Fatah official in exile, as Gaza’s representative. This has further complicated political dynamics with Arab leaders divided over the future role of Palestinian fighters in Gaza.
